This is 16' tall, 212' long AquaDam. It will be installed in an HDPE lined pond, to isolate a bank, allowing a culvert to be installed.
The AquaDam is unrolled at a 90 degree angle to the bank. The open end of the AquaDam is elevated on a dirt berm and tied to the excavator.
The fill-tubes at the open end of the AquaDam have been pulled up and over this dirt berm. Elevating the fill-tubes above the rest of the AquaDam is essential!
The AquaDam continues to unroll as water is pumped in.
Fully installed, the AquaDam rises above the surrounding waters, isolating the work area to allow dewatering pumps to expose the area to be worked on.
3" diameter discharge water pumps are used to dewatering the work area.
This 16' high AquaDam is an older model, manufactured without an internal stabilizing baffle skirts. Today, all AquaDams 3' in height and taller are "baffled", in order to increase stability. This non-baffled AquaDam has shifted closer to the work area due to the pressure from different water depths present on each side of the AquaDam.
Once dewatering is complete, the AquaDam will settle into it's final resting position.
Nearly every bit of this 212' long AquaDam was needed to dewater this small work area. A small amount of the AquaDams length remains rolled up on the log.
The AquaDam has an outer layer of geotextile material. It is rugged enough to walk on or even drive small vehicles on.
The work area continues to dewater.
The 16' high by 212' long AquaDam has been installed successfully and the work area is being dewatered. Another successful job using an AquaDam!
